A Little Thank You From Scented Mood + An Apple Harvest Recipe

A Little Thank You From Scented Mood + An Apple Harvest Recipe

There is something I have been wanting to say for a little while now.

Thank you.

Thank you to the people who have found Scented Mood.

Thank you to the people who have read something here, visited the shop, followed along, or simply stopped for a few minutes to see what this little corner of the internet is about.

And especially, thank you to the people who have become part of Letters from Scented Mood.

The club is still small.

And honestly, I like that.

There is something special about knowing that every letter I prepare is going to a real person who chose to receive a little piece of Scented Mood in their mailbox.

A Little Thank You to My Members

When I started Letters from Scented Mood, I knew I wanted it to be more than a subscription.

I wanted it to feel like a little moment waiting for you.

Something you could open at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee.

Something you could tuck into a favorite chair and look through on a quiet afternoon.

Something that might make you smile before you even know exactly why.

There are so many things competing for our attention every day.

Notifications.

Emails.

Packages.

Reminders.

Errands.

Schedules.

Physical mail feels different.

You have to open it.

You have to hold it.

You can put it on the counter and come back to it later.

Maybe that is part of why I love it so much.

It asks for just a little bit of your time.

And to the members who have already trusted me enough to become part of Letters from Scented Mood:

Thank you for being here.

You are helping me turn an idea into something real.

Every time I sit down to prepare another month’s letter, I think about the people who will eventually open it. I think about what might make them smile, what might give them a few quiet minutes, and what little detail might make the whole thing feel like it was made especially for them.

That means more to me than I can really put into words.

An Apple Harvest Kind of Afternoon

October always makes me want to bake.

Maybe it is the apples.

Maybe it is the cooler air.

Maybe it is simply that baking makes the kitchen feel warmer and more inviting.

There is something wonderful about bringing home a bag of apples and knowing that they could become almost anything.

Pie.

Crisp.

Bread.

Sauce.

Or a batch of warm muffins.

For this month’s apple harvest theme, I went looking for a recipe that felt like something you could actually make on an ordinary fall afternoon.

I chose Cinnamon Apple Muffins from Simple Table Recipes.

The recipe makes 12 muffins and uses real diced apples rather than applesauce, with cinnamon in the batter and an optional cinnamon-sugar topping. The original recipe lists about 15 minutes of preparation and 18–22 minutes of baking.

Cinnamon Apple Muffins

Recipe by Simple Table Recipes

Makes: 12 muffins
Prep: about 15 minutes
Bake: 18–22 minutes
Oven: 375°F

The recipe calls for:

  • All-purpose flour
  • Brown sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Salt
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Neutral oil or melted butter
  • Vanilla extract
  • Fresh apple, peeled and finely diced
  • Optional cinnamon-sugar topping

The apples are diced fairly small so they have enough time to soften while the muffins bake. The recipe also recommends stirring the batter only until the flour disappears rather than overmixing it.

I love recipes like this for fall because they don’t require a complicated project or a long list of unusual ingredients.

Just apples, cinnamon, and a little time in the kitchen.

Exactly the kind of thing I imagine making on a quiet Saturday morning.

Make It a Little Scented Mood Moment

If you make these muffins, don’t rush through it.

Put on some music.

Make a cup of coffee or tea.

Light a candle while the muffins are in the oven.

Let the kitchen fill with the smell of apples and cinnamon.

Then, when they’re ready, sit down and actually enjoy one.

Not while answering an email.

Not while making a grocery list.

Not while trying to do three other things.

Just enjoy it.

Those little moments are really what Scented Mood is about.

A scent.

A letter.

A warm drink.

Something homemade.

A few quiet minutes.

Nothing extravagant.

Just something that makes an ordinary day feel a little softer.

And I’d Love to Hear From You

This is something I want to do more often here.

I want the people who read Scented Mood to become part of it.

So if you make these muffins, let me know in the comments.

Did you like them?

What kind of apple did you use?

Did you add the cinnamon-sugar topping?

Did you make them for breakfast, an afternoon treat, or just because you had apples sitting on the counter?

I would genuinely love to hear about it.

And if you have a favorite fall recipe of your own, tell me about that, too.

Maybe it will find its way into a future Scented Mood Sunday.

To My Letters from Scented Mood Members

I want to end where I started.

Thank you.

Thank you for being among the first people to believe in this little idea.

Thank you for letting me send something personal to your mailbox each month.

And thank you for giving me a reason to keep thinking about all the little details that can make an ordinary month feel special.

I have so many ideas for where Letters from Scented Mood can go.

More stories.

More scents.

More little paper surprises.

More things to notice.

More reasons to pause.

And hopefully, more people around the country opening their mailbox one day and finding something inside that makes them think:

Oh. This is for me.

I’m glad you’re here for the beginning.

Now go find some apples.

And maybe make some muffins.

I’ll meet you in the comments.
